I don’t want to complain. I was really lucky about the weather and all the cyclist heading north, either to North Cape or where ever else in Scandinavia. I had 6! (yes, six) weeks of fantastic weather in Scandinavia. But in middle Sweden (Örnsköldsvik) the weather changed. A mix of showers and sunshine. But honestly, still much much more sunshine and some overcast weather than rain/showers. OK, the last 1.5 days to Bremen were really pretty wet. Lots of showers and last day almost the whole day rain. From Bremen to Tromsø via Denmark and back to Bremen via Finland, Sweden and Denmark in exactly 60 days (56 cycling days) I had less than 6 rainy days. Ups, and if I think about it, not a single day it rained the whole day. I simply can’t believe my luck. At the beginning of my journey I was really scared about the bad, cold, wet, ugly and horror like weather in Scandinavia.
Tomorrow I’m already 3 weeks in Bremen. The first week I felt very tired. Not surprisingly after over 6000 Km. Tomorrow I’m heading to Durbach where I live at the time of writing via the Netherlands, Belgium and Le Mont-Saint-Michel in France. I definitely gonna miss the wild camping in Scandinavia. 40 of 59 overnight stays I camped wild. Most of the time It was simply fantastic and I felt safe. Even when I was visible from the road. No damn RV’s, noisy people and so on. Very often close to a river or lake. So I could wash myself and the dishes. The remaining 19 overnight stays 14 times campgrounds and 5 times hotel/youth hostel. What I definitely not gonna miss are the damn bloody vampires. Also known as mosquitoes. But the worst were the midges. Very tiny and virtually active 24 hours thanks to midsummer. And not to forget the horse-flies/deer flies.
Below is my route from Örnsköldsvik to Bremen and pictures I took between both cities
